NAGPUR: The Communist Party of India (Maoist) that represents Naxal movement in India has issued a statement strongly condemning the 13/7 terror blasts in Mumbai that killed around 20 people and injured another 80. The banned outfit, known for its anti-national rhetoric and armed struggle against Indian government, has also demanded free and fair probe into all the terror attacks in the country since 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. The press release, available on a pro-Naxal blog, has been issued by spokesperson Abhay representing the central committee of the outfit.

Raipur, July 4 (IANS) A protest week called by the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) began Monday in Chhattisgarh, hitting life in the state's vast forested interiors, police said. "The protest week has hit life in the interior pockets of Bastar's 40,000 sq km area where operators have kept buses and smaller passenger vehicles off the road fearing a Maoist attack," a senior officer at the police headquarters here told IANS. The official added that hundreds of police and paramilitary troopers have been relocated to strengthen security in the jungle areas vulnerable to attacks.

Naxal-selected mediators who held negotiation for safe release of R Vineel Krishna after his abduction by Maoists in February, today said violence may come down in Orissa if the state government honours agreement made during the hostage crisis.
This was stated by Prof Hargopal at a convention here on implementation of 14-point pact between Orissa government and the mediators. Hargopal was one of the three mediators who played a key role in safe release of the then Malkangiri district collector and a junior engineer from Maoists.

Raipur: Over 500 army personnel have arrived in the heart of a Maoist insurgency-hit area in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region for training, a move security experts say will psychologically hit the rebels.
The contingent of the army's central command in Lucknow descended for the first time on the Maoist nerve centre of Abujhmad, around 300km from Raipur. Most of the area falls in Narayanpur district of Bastar.

MUMBAI, India — Free speech advocates and Internet users are protesting new Indian regulations restricting Web content that, among other things, can be considered “disparaging,” “harassing,” “blasphemous” or “hateful.”
The new rules, quietly issued by the country’s Department of Information Technology earlier this month and only now attracting attention, allow officials and private citizens to demand that Internet sites and service providers remove content they consider objectionable on the basis of a long list of criteria.

PRESS RELEASE: A REPORT FROM GROUND ZERO
